Today several of the best and most passionate criminal justice scholars/professors I have ever been associated with discussed the recent police shootings, and national protest. Part of the discussion was on recommend policy changes based on scientific research. The discussion centered on our concerns from all points of view.

During our conversation we discussed the fear of retaliatory ambush attacks on officers across the nation with heighten tensions from recent police shootings. A few hours after our conversation, our fears became reality in Dallas.

Our Nation is better than this and we need to stop the violence and start an open dialog of understanding and compassion.
