Careers in Law Enforcement: Worchester County Sheriff Department (Maryland)


The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office was established on December 10, 1742. Today’s Worcester County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) is a full service law enforcement department that is located on the eastern shore of Maryland. The WCSO Headquarters is in Snow Hill Maryland.

Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Mission:
“To serve the people of Worcester County Maryland, and to provide safety, combat crime, eliminate the fear of crime, and improved quality of life in our communities. This will be done through Loyalty, Integrity, Fairness, and Excellence” (WCS0, 2015).

The WCSO has the following units to support their law enforcement mission:

    • A civil division
    • Uniformed patrol division
    • Criminal bureau of investigation unit
    • K-9 units

    • Traffic accident unit
    • DARE program

  • ATF (Beach Patrol Patrol)
  • School resource officers,
  • Motor unit that ride Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Mark Bond has worked in law enforcement and has been a firearms instructor for more than 29 years. His law enforcement experience includes the military, local, state and federal levels as a police officer and criminal investigator. Mark obtained a BS and MS in criminal justice, and M.Ed in educational leadership with Summa Cum Laude honors.
